The THIRD big question is: where is the opposition?
The Movement for Democratic Change, which gave Mugabe a scare in 2000 and beat him in 2008 is now a pale shadow of itself.
It has been decimated to such an extent that it cannot even debate a serious issue in Parliament without the consent of ZANU-PF as members of the ruling party only need to walk out and leave no quorum.
Former Vice-President Joice Mujuru has come on board with her Zimbabwe People First. Though it has been touted as Mugabe’s biggest challenge, a lot of critics are questioning the so-called support Mujuru has because she was popular while in ZANU-PF and is presently an unknown quantity.
Besides, she has too many skeletons which ZANU-PF can expose.
MDC-T leader Morgan Tsvangirai, on paper, still poses the greatest challenge but there is a lot of disgruntlement even within his own party that he has outlived his usefulness.
Observers are banking on a coalition of the opposition parties, but this is easier said than done because there are too many personality clashes.
