Zimbabwe coronavirus cases now at 222

Zimbabwe’s coronavirus cases yesterday rose to 222 after 16 people, all of whom returned from South Africa, turned positive.

This has seen the number of cases in Matebeleland South rise to 32, those in Masvingo to 35 and Midlands to 12.

Zimbabwe now has 189 active cases.

Nearly 50 000 people have now been tested.

Globally, there were 6.5 million cases last night but more people had recovered from the virus than those still active.

More than 385 200 had died and 3.1 million had recovered leaving just over 3 million active cases.

The United States accounted for more than a third of the active cases.

It had more than 1.1 million active cases.
