A New Jersey, United States, woman who sought maintenance from a man whom she thought was the father of her twin daughters got the shock of her life when she discovered that he was only the father of one and not the other. DNA tests revealed that her twins, born in January 2013, had different fathers. Judge Sohail Mohammed this week ordered the man to pay maintenance for only one child. Though it was rare for a woman to give births to twins with two fathers, it was possible. Judge Mohammed said he found two other court cases nationally on such matters. Associated Press reported that this can happen when a woman has sexual intercourse with two men in the same week, and an egg is fertilised by each.
