Trend reverses as 10 Zimbabweans die of coronavirus


Ten Zimbabweans died of coronavirus today reversing a trend where less and less were dying with only two dying yesterday.

The number of new cases is also rising with 167 new cases today against 151 recoveries.

The seven-day rolling average for new cases increased from 84 to 95.

Zimbabwe has so far recorded 35 710 cases, 31 972 recoveries and 1 430 deaths.

There are now 2 308 active cases with those in Harare going up to 893. Manicaland, Mashonaland West and Bulawayo fared better with 557, 224 and 128 active cases respectively.

Zimbabwe is under a strict lockdown and it has launched a vaccination programme that kicked off in Harare yesterday but is now spreading to the rest of the country.
