Three members of the Movement for Democratic Change Alliance youth Assembly Cecillia Chimbiri, Joanna Mamombe and Netsai Marova who were allegedly abducted on Wednesday have been found.

The party said in a tweet that the three were found by villagers after being badly beaten and dumped along the Bindura Road.

“They have since been rescued with the help of our lawyers,” the party said. “The Police attended the scene. They’re currently in the process of checking into a medical centre for treatment.”

There was an outcry over the disappearance of the three with the United States and United Kingdom governments as well as Amnesty International and Freedom House calling for their immediate release.

Zimbabwe police had refuted reports that the three had been arrested.
