Relations between Zimbabwe and the United States have not changed despite the recent visit by State Department officials Shannon Smith and Steven Feldstein.
The State media hailed the visit as a sign that relations between the two countries were thawing just like those between Harare and Brussels had resulting in the European Union lifting sanctions on Zimbabwe except on President Robert Mugabe, his wife and the Zimbabwe Defence Industries.
“The relationship with the government of Zimbabwe is not fundamentally changing,” Shannon told the Voice of America, the State-owned broadcaster started as a propaganda machine to broadcast to the world and not the US itself.
She said the visit was standard diplomatic practice that they do with countries worldwide.
Zimbabwe is up for debate before he United States Subcommittee on Africa next week and Shannon is expected to be one of the contributors.
