The United States today lifted sanctions on eight Zimbabwean individuals associated with President Robert Mugabe and his Zimbabwe African National Union-Patriotic Front but this was largely a non-event as most of them were dead.
According to a notice by the Office of Foreign Assets Control with administers sanctions on individuals and entities designated by the United States, Washington lifted sanctions on Stan Mudenge, David Karimanzira, Solomon Mujuru, Solomon Tawengwa and Barbara Mandizha who are all dead.
It also lifted sanctions against Edward Chindori-Chininga, Tinaye Chigudu and Khantibhal Patel, and one entity, Calgary Farm.
Washington lifted sanctions on two state-owned banks, the Infrastructure Development Bank of Zimbabwe and Agribank last month.
