Two interesting court cases that have attracted public attention will be heard this morning.

The Constitutional Court is hearing Higher Education Minister Jonathan Moyo’s case in which he argues that his arrest by the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission for allegedly abusing funds from the Zimbabwe Manpower Development Fund is illegal.

Moyo is alleged to have abused $400 000 from ZIMDEF.

At the High Court lawyers for social media activist Evan Mawarire, who was arrested last week on his return from the United States, are applying for his bail.

He was remanded in custody to 17 February when he appeared in court last week.

The case was supposed to be heard yesterday but was postponed to today.

Mawarire is facing allegations of subverting a constitutionally-elected Government or alternatively inciting public violence.
