Two die of coronavirus in Zimbabwe, one recovers, seven test positive

Two women, a 79-year-old from Bulawayo and a 60-year-old from the Midlands, died of the coronavirus yesterday bringing the total to six so far.

The last coronavirus death in Zimbabwe was on 22 April.

The Bulawayo woman was diagnosed with the virus on 17 June while the Midlands woman tested positive on 19 June.

One person from Mashonaland Central recovered bringing the total to 64.

Seven people, six returning residents from South Africa and one from Portugal, however, tested positive raising the total to 486 cases.

Globally there are now 8.9 million cases. So far more than 466 800 people have died, 4.7 million have recovered and there are still 3.7 million active cases.

Brazil, the country with the second highest number of cases and deaths after the United States, now has more than one million cases and just over 50 000 deaths.

The United States has more than 2.3 million cases and nearly 122 000 deaths.
