The arms of government that are supposed to protect and serve the people are thoroughly corrupt with the police topping the bill.

According to a survey released by Transparency International yesterday, 72.4 percent of those polled said Zimbabwean police were extremely corrupt.

Just below the police were political parties with 49.9 percent.

Public officials and civil servants fell in third place at 37.7 percent.

Ironically, Parliament and legislature which should be the watchdog for society fell in fourth place with 35.2 percent followed by the judiciary at 29.6 percent.

The survey does not talk about revenue departments like ZIMRA or immigration, which are also known to be thoroughly corrupt.

Here is the full report that covers six Southern African development Community countries.
