President Robert Mugabe on Tuesday announced a new policy on indigenisation which most people thought was a major shift from the hardline stance that the government had so far insisted on.
The country’s indigenisation law requires that at least 51 percent of all foreign companies with a value of $500 000 and above to be in local hands.
The government has been forcing foreign companies to comply with this law and to come up with a timeline to fulfill this requirement.
Here is Mugabe’s statement in full.
