Mawarire quits Mujuru’s National People’s Party

The spokesman for former Vice-President Joice Mujuru’s National People’s Party, Jealousy Mawarire, has resigned his post and quit the party because his life is now in danger from thugs that now surround her and will not take her anywhere.

Mawarire, who was involved in a fracas with Mujuru’s spokesman Gift Nyandoro last week which left Nyandoro with a broken leg, described Nyandoro as a thug who was threatening national members with physical harm or “taking them to the satanic realm”.

“That such behaviour hasn’t been condemned even when it happened in your full view during meetings that you chaired was, to me, bad and when the same Nyandoro carried his thuggish behaviour to the extent of pushing my wife who had come to inquire why he was being abrasive towards me when he followed me to Bronte Hotel where I was attending a ZESN-EU workshop took away the little respect I had for him and your office that I thought he represented,” Mawarire said in his letter of resignation which was also posted on his twitter page.

“The malice that he showed after the altercation at Bronte and the melodrama he created on the issue made me realise I wasn’t just dealing with a thug but with a dishonest character that I would not love to work with.

“You are aware, as I have communicated before, that your spokesperson, with the help of equally thuggish two members of the party from Harare Province, has hired thugs to trail and harm me hence I see no point really to engage, every day, in fighting thugs rather than the oppressive ZANU-PF regime.

“I therefore believe, as I have told you before, that while I believe in your ability to steer this country from the mess it is in, I don’t believe the thugs that have taken over important positions in the party will take you anywhere.”

Mawarire, however, said he still believed that Mujuru was the best leader to end the economic rot that President Robert Mugabe and his cronies had brought upon the nation.

“The ball is in your court, at the best level and with the right kind of racquet, the necessary technique swing and power; you can smash in a wonderful victory at the polls in 2018,” he said.

“Thank you for the wonderful opportunity you gave me to serve under you, to defend what I know is right and for projecting the real Joice Mujuru that I know you are.

“You have shown me the real Mother Zimbabwe that you are and I honestly believe you have the capacity to ‘Make Zimbabwe a First World County’ the dream and wish that you told me you had, long before Donald Trump spoke about ‘Making America Great Again’,” he said.
