Matombo finally kicked out of the ZCTU

Former Zimbabwe Congress of Trade Unions president Lovemore Matombo was on Monday finally kicked out of the labour movement and has been forbidden from masquerading as a ZCTU official and using its name and property including letterheads or holding meetings in the name of the ZCTU.

Matombo and 12 others were first barred from doing this by the High Court on 16 December last year but the 13 appealed to the Supreme Court.

They lost the case on Monday with costs.

George Nkiwane is now the legitimate president of the ZCTU with Japhet Moyo as the secretary general.

Other top executives are Sithokozile Siwela, first vice-president; Rwatipedza Chigwagwa, second vice-president; and Justin Mutasa, third vice-president.

Gideon Shoko is the first deputy secretary general; Dick Tarusenga, the second deputy secretary; and Enock Mahari, the treasurer.

Here is the full High Court judgment that was upheld by the Supreme Court.
