Five more people die of coronavirus in Zimbabwe, bringing total to nine in 72 hours

Five more people, three from Bulawayo and two from Harare, died of the coronavirus yesterday, bringing to nine the number of people that have died in the past 72 hours, and the total so far to 18.

There were 40 new cases, 10 from returning residents including four from Liberia, and 30 local cases which included 13 health workers, 10 from Mpilo Hospital in Bulawayo and three from quarantine centres.

The total number of cases now stands at 982, while the number of those that have recovered remained at 320.

There are now 12.8 million cases globally which include 567 700 deaths.

So far 7.5 million people have recovered but there are still 4.8 million active cases.
