Deported ex-congressman hiding in South Africa

Former United States congressman Mel Reynolds who was deported from Zimbabwe last month for violating the country’s immigration laws says he is in hiding in South Africa reports from the US said today but did not disclose his location.

Reynolds was deported for overstaying in Zimbabwe where he was also reported to have amassed hotel bills of nearly US$24 000.

He was also accused of possessing pornographic material but the charge was thrown out by the court.

Reynolds, a congressman from 1993 to1995 but his career was derailed after he was convicted of bank fraud and sexual misconduct with an underage campaign aide.
