Chamisa went on: “For those reasons, the citizens of Zimbabwe will not rest until a permanent solution and lasting political settlement has been found to address all their long standing political grievances, pursuant to achieving a just, stable, peaceful, prosperous and democratic Zimbabwe.
“No amount of bare denials, deflections, use of proxies, diversionary tactics, subterfuge and political side shows will take our eyes off the ball. Citizens are entitled to be led by a government which truly reflects the will of the people having been chosen in a free, fair and credible election.
“Our resolve is not shaken. Our Will can not be broken. The citizens will not be silenced. Our struggle is just and legitimate. It is a citizens project, a people’s struggle for majority rule! #ForEveryone.”
@unathiafrika responded: “Very big English indeed. The question is: WHAT NEXT?”
That is the question everyone has been asking since CCC was rocked by the recall of its legislators and councillors by Sengezo Tshabangu who claims to be the interim secretary-general of the party.
One of his supporters, United States-based Freeman Chari, who has fund-raised for the party on a number of occasions, said most of the people who were after Chamisa had nothing to offer. Chamisa had one card that most of these people did not have- mass appeal.
“Unfortunately things can turn & he can become a comma in history. Remember Zexie Manatsa used to fill Rufaro Stadium but like dew he evaporated. 2016 rise of Mawarire is a lesson, he cld have taken chunhu,” Chari said.
“The task at hand to build CCC & restore faith is huge. What I don’t know is whether NC has the capacity to handle it. It requires him doing things differently from his form. He will need to rely on other pple, he will also need to accept that his ideas were tested & came short
“Finally, people are tired of verses. They need direction. They need to know if the struggle is OK. They need assuarances that investing their resources, time and emotions in this thing is worth it. Provide a conduit for them to be members so they can contribute & particpate!”
It does not appear as if Chamisa has taken heed of this advice.
It is also not clear whether by rejecting the SADCEOM recommendation Chamisa has abandoned his lobbying for SADC and the African Union to intervene in his quest for fresh elections.
While his supporters on X have been calling for action, it is not clear whether anyone will really take to the streets after Chamisa described the 2018 protests in which six people were killed while demanding the release of the presidential election results “stupid”.
