A record 1 756 people, 1 698 of them from Harare alone, were today reported to have recovered from the coronavirus leaving only 1 325 active cases.

The country, however, had three deaths pushing the total to 135 and had only 47 new cases.

There are now 5 308 cases but 3 848 have recovered.

It is, however, not clear whether the country is out of the woods yet.

Matebeleland South now has the highest number of active cases at 444, followed by Bulawayo with 306 and Harare 197.

Masvingo, which has still not recorded a single death, now has seven cases after five new cases were added today.

South Africa has 589 886 cases and 11 982 deaths but the number of active cases is down to 100 233.

The number of cases across the globe now stands at 22 million with 776 000 deaths.

There are 6.5 million active cases and 14.7 million recoveries.
