Zimbabwe today said it has now fired 286 doctors who have been on strike for more than 70 days.
Minister of Health Obadiah Moyo told cabinet today that 322 doctors had so far appeared for disciplinary hearing and 286 were found guilt and dismissed.
Another 93 doctors from central hospitals will have their cases heard on 15 November while 55 doctors from provincial hospitals will have their cases heard on 22 November.
Doctors went on strike in September saying their salaries were no longer sufficient to allow them to travel to work.
The government refused to give in to their demands to increase their salaries by at least 400 percent and instead offered a 100 percent increase.
Moyo said the government was still prepared for dialogue with the striking doctors and has scheduled a meeting for Thursday, 14 November.
