Salaries for civil servants have been delayed by at least two weeks. Members of the uniformed services such as the army, police and air force will be paid on 27 June while teachers, doctors and nurses will be paid on 7 July and 14 July.

Zimbabwe is currently facing a cash crisis and is introducing bond notes in October.

Finance Minister Patrick Chinamasa said the notes could not be introduced earlier because the printer is only be able to produce them then.

He apologised for prematurely announcing the introduction of bond notes which has sent panic waves among Zimbabweans who are afraid the introduction of the notes is tantamount to bringing the Zimbabwe dollar back.
