Zimbabwe’s chief magistrate Mishrod Guvamombe, who was arrested yesterday on charges of criminal abuse of office, appeared in court today before acting chief magistrate Munamato Mutevedzi and was granted $3 000 bail.

He was remanded to 25 January.

Guvamombe’s charges arise from granting two former cabinet minister Saviour Kasukuwere and Supa Mandiwanzira work-related attachment at the courts.

The two are law students at the University of Zimbabwe but are facing abuse of office charges.
