South Africa among top 10 countries worst hit by coronavirus in the world

South Africa is now one of the top 10 countries worst hit by the coronavirus and has 276 242 cases including 4 079 deaths.

Zimbabwe is at number 141 with 985 cases after three people tested positive yesterday.

Eight people from Manicaland recovered bringing the total to 328.

There are 639 active cases.

Zimbabwe has tested 88 984 people so far, but the majority of the tests are screening tests, not diagnostic ones.

There are now 13 million cases globally with 571 600 deaths.

Countries with the highest number of cases are the United States, Brazil, India, Russia, Peru, Chile, Spain, Mexico and the United Kingdom.

The US has 3.4 million cases followed by Brazil with 1.8 million. The remainder have less than a million cases each.
