Ordinary Zimbabwe passport now $150

The Zimbabwe cabinet today approved an increase in the cost of an ordinary passport from $53 to $150 and that of an emergency passport from $253 to $600.

The move is aimed at clearing the backlog for passports which now stands at 400 000.

In addition cabinet agreed that treasury should continue to pay US$1 million a month to clear the central registry debt.

Treasury should also provide US$6.8 million, €580 200 and $11.8 million to clear the passport backlog.
