Deputy Minister of Agriculture Silvester Nguni was placed on the United States sanctions list only three months after his appointment together with twelve others.
Nguni made his name as the chief executive of the Cotton Company, which he catapulted from a loss-making parastatal to a listed company with several subsidiaries.
He was placed on the sanctions list because he was now among those who formulated, implemented or benefitted, from policies that undermined or injured Zimbabwe’s democratic institutions or impeded transition to a multi-party democracy.
