MDC rebels case set for 14 April

Chief Justice Godfrey Chidyausiku today ruled that the case of 21 former Movement for Democratic Change Renewal Team legislators who were expelled from Parliament because they had crossed the floor is urgent. It will be brought before the Constitutional Court on 14 April, two days before the nomination date announced by President Robert Mugabe for the 10 June by-elections.  Observers had thought that once declared urgent, the case could be heard tomorrow together with that of two former Zimbabwe African National Union-Patriotic legislators, Didymus Mutasa and Themba Mliswa.  Mutasa and Mliswa are challenging their expulsion and so are the former MDC legislators.
