MDC prepares for primaries

The Movement for Democratic Change said it will be starting its primary elections on 20 April. Party spokesman Douglas Mwonzora said: “In its resolutions, the National Council resolved that all aspiring candidates irrespective of their positions within the party structures will go through the democratic processes of confirmation and primary elections as there will be no sacred cows in the party.” Nelson Chamisa, the National Organising Secretary, said over 5 000 members had submitted their curriculum vitas from all the provinces, districts and wards across the country but between 300 and 400 aspiring candidates did not qualify because they were not performing well.
