Acting President Emmerson Mnangagwa has warned corrupt Zimbabweans to mend their ways or face the law. “Hatina tsitsi necorruption. Saka vanenge vakaita corruption kare ndinokuyambirai pano tiri munyika yaChirumhanzu endai munochera zvikomba pasi mopfira mate moti zvagumira pano. Asi kune vamwe vakare nekuti hatingavakanganwire, tichavatevera. Asi kana wange uchizviita chera chikomba nekuti masamba asiyana. Masamba asiyana,” he was quoted by The Herald as saying.  Corruption is rife in Zimbabwe and last year it was ranked as the third most corrupt country in Africa.  Zimbabwe was ranked 156 out of 175 in the 2014 Transparency International Corruption Perception Index. Several cases of corruption were exposed this year but the culprits are still to be brought to book. But Mnangagwa said President Robert Mugabe had given them powers to root out corruption. “President vedu VaMugabe vakatipa masimba ekuti tipwanye, titsonde, tipukute corruption,” he said. Mnangagwa and his colleague Phelekezela Mphoko have to prove that there is a new administration which is going to transform the country because things had gone haywire with people doing whatever they wanted with impunity.
