Jonathan Moyo has one of the largest twitter following among Zimbabwe’s politicians, more than those of Chamisa, and his following has grown phenomenally since he went into exile.
He had only 196 000 followers when he left the country, which was quite large at the time, but these have since grown to 347 000. Chamisa had about 150 000 supporters but they now stand at 319 000.
But one of Moyo’s followers once warned him that he should not be fooled to think that all the people that follow him support him, others follow him just to see what he is up to.
Chamisa has seven days to challenge the results, so he should do so before the end of this week.
According to the Sunday Mail, however, there is already a fight within the MDC Alliance with some saying he is wasting time because the party did not have election agents at all polling stations.
The pro-Mnangagwa paper said among those telling Chamisa to back out are Tendai Biti, Elias Mudzuri, Douglas Mwonzora, Jameson Timba (who was Chamisa’s election agent) and Murisi Zwizwai.
It said those backing Chamisa were his spokesperson Nkululeko Sibanda and Morgen Komichi who stormed the stage while the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission was announcing results and rejected them.
The paper said Timba, however, said he and the others were solidly behind Chamisa.
