Jonathan Moyo according to Wikileaks-Part 11

jonathan-moyo-and-ibbo-mandazaEconet boss Strive Masiyiwa said eight years ago that he did not trust current Higher Education Minister Jonathan Moyo and publisher Ibbo Mandaza because they were former Central Intelligence Organisation operatives.

“Their interests are not the Zimbabwean people, but rather themselves,” Masiyiwa told United States embassy officials in Pretoria.

Masiyiwa was talking about the creation of a united front against the Zimbabwe African National Union-Patriotic Front ahead of the 2008 harmonised elections.

He had been named as one of the funders of the proposed united front but flatly denied that he funded or supported the front.

Masiyiwa was, however, intrigued about the rumours of the united front and said that if Simba Makoni could be persuaded to run for president, it would be a “positive” development.

“Makoni is sober, intelligent, and is probably the best ZANU-PF has to offer at this stage,” he was quoted as saying.

Moyo was an independent Member of Parliament at the time having been sacked from the government and ZANU-PF three years earlier.
