Bulawayo defies trend as active coronavirus cases continue to decline

Active coronavirus cases in Zimbabwe continued to drop today but in Bulawayo they are going up as there are more new cases than recoveries.

There were 15 deaths, 160 new cases and 386 recoveries which saw the number of active cases drop to 4 883.

So far 34 331 people have contracted the virus, 28 145 have recovered and 1 303 have died.

Active cases in Harare have dropped to 1 813, those in Manicaland to 731 while Matebeleland North now has 522. In Bulawayo the number of cases rose slightly to 445.

Zimbabwe is under a strict Level 4 lockdown until 15 February.

Police continue to enforce the strict lockdown regulations and arrested 3 350 people yesterday, 894 for not wearing face masks.

They have arrested a total of 393 504 people since he first lockdown at the end of March last year.
