Almost half of adult Zimbabweans have considered leaving the country mostly to look for jobs, a survey by African think tank, Afrobarometer says.
The survey showed that 22 percent had given a lot of thought to the idea but 53 percent have never thought at all of leaving the country.
More than half a million are currently making preparations to leave while twice the number are thinking of leaving the country in the next year or two.
The most preferred destination is South Africa with 55 percent wanting to go there.
The major pull factor is jobs.
Sixty-two percent say they are thinking of leaving to look for employment.
Only one percent want to leave the country because of political persecution or in search of a better democratic environment.
