Activists granted bail

Six civic activists accused of treason for allegedly plotting an Egypt-style uprising against President Robert Mugabe were today granted bail of $2 000 each. High Court Judge Samuel Kudya said state prosecutors had failed to show there was a threat to state security and had “bold and unsubstantiated” evidence against the six who included former opposition lawmaker Munyaradzi Gwisai. The six reappear for trial March 21.
