Active coronavirus cases continue to rise as 7 more test positive at Hwange mine

The number of active coronavirus cases in Zimbabwe yesterday rose to 1 407 after the country recorded 19 new cases, seven of them at a mine in Hwange where 18 people tested positive on Friday.

Cases in Matebeleland South, Harare, Manicaland and Bulawayo remained largely unchanged at 528, 376, 279 and 121, respectively.

There was no death and only seven people recovered.

To date, Zimbabwe has recorded 38 064 cases, 35 101 recoveries and 1 556 deaths.

A total of 4 756 people were vaccinated for the first time yesterday and 1 358 got their second dose.
So far 324 488 people have received their first dose and 47 611 have been fully vaccinated.
