19-year-old Bulawayo man dies of coronavirus as death toll rises to 24

A 19-year-old Bulawayo man died of the coronavirus today raising the death toll to 24.

He is the fourth person from the second city to die of the virus in two days.

Bulawayo now accounts for 11 of the 24 deaths.

Harare has eight deaths.

There were 58 new cases, 48 of them local transmissions.

The total number of cases now stands at 1 420.

Local transmissions now stand at 654 and imported cases are 766.

Bulawayo has 446 cases, 411 of which are local transmissions.

Harare has 448 cases, and only 151 are local transmissions.

Thirteen people recovered from the virus raising the total to 438.

There are still 958 active cases with Bulawayo accounting for 347 and Harare 324.

There are now 14.1 million cases in the world.

So far 8.4 million people have recovered, 595 200 have died and there are still 5.1 million active cases.
