Six years ago we had an interview with Bishop Nehemiah Mutendi, leader of the Zion Christian Church in Zimbabwe. He said his mission was now to spread the gospel to the West. People were praying under the sheds of trees. There were very few church buildings. There was no church building at the administrative headquarters at Mbungo because no one could figure how to build a church big enough to accommodate the multitudes that gather there for big conferences like Easter. All that has changed. Church ministers are no longer put on the blue uniforms at major ceremonies but gabardines. But most importantly church members have built one of the biggest churches on the continent which can accommodate 15 000 people. Here is the story we published in February 2004.
