Zimbabwe today vaccinated 3 135 people against coronavirus bringing the total to 11 007.

President Emmerson Mnangagwa said the country is buying 1.8 million doses of the vaccine from China which has already donated 400 000 doses.

This should be enough to vaccinate more than one million people.

Zimbabwe says it intends to vaccinate about 10 million people.

Mnangagwa reiterated that vaccination is voluntary.

There were 34 new cases raising the total to 35 994 cases.

Two people died, however, and 45 recovered.

A total of 32 455 people have recovered, 1 458 have died and there are now 2 081 active cases.

Harare is now down to 803 active cases, Manicaland still stands at 566, Mashonaland West  at 233 and Bulawayo is down to 101.

Zimbabwe is under a strict Level 4 lockdown which should be reviewed on or before Monday, 1 March.
