Wikipedia ahead of Mugabe-identifies Mnangagwa as vice-president designate

Wikipedia, the online encyclopedia appears to be one step ahead of Zimbabwe African National Union-Patriotic Front leader, Robert Mugabe. It has already identified secretary for legal affairs Emmerson Mnangagwa as Vice-President designate with effect from yesterday, 6 December 2014.

Mugabe was supposed to announce his team at the party congress that ended yesterday but he said he needed time to look at the names of the central committee members that was presented at the congress yesterday.

Hatingambozviiti mawuro ano. Mazita acho handisati ndamboona kuti province iyi yatipa vanhu vakadii, ndavanani vatingatore kuisa muPolitburo. So, I don’t want to rush it. So, be patient,” Mugabe told anxious congress delegates yesterday.

“But mid-next week, by Wednesday or Thursday, we will make an announcement. We will let you know because we cannot go far . . . We will have to choose the two Vice-Presidents, the chairman and secretary veSecretariat; basa ranga richiitwa naVaMutasa . . .But we will do a reshuffle. There will disappointment, but we will try to be as objective as possible and we will try to avoid zvemafactions and vamwe vakanga vachishanda mumafactions.”

The only two people already assured of places in the politburo are Mugabe himself and his wife Grace who was confirmed secretary for the Women’s League.

Mnangagwa has been Mugabe’s right hand man from independence but fell out after the 2004 congress before bouncing back in 2008.

Mnangagwa, then Minister of the mediocre Ministry of Rural Housing and Social Amenities, was sent to represent Zimbabwe at the special Southern African Development Community summit on Zimbabwe in April 2008 yet the country had two vice-Presidents- Joice Mujuru and Joseph Msika.
