Before President Emmerson Mnangagwa came to power in November last year reports said there were about 70 political parties in the country.
On Independence Day, Local Government Minister July Moyo said 123 parties were now registered with the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission.
The question is: Why are we having so many political parties being formed now?
Is it because of a new sense of freedom ushered by the coming in of Mnangagwa?
Is it because people are smelling money because politics seems to have become an easy way to make money and with the new dispensation opposition party leaders are not likely to be clobbered like they were during the Mugabe era?
Is it just madness?
What do you think?
