Was Mutambara right that he was the only who could shut up Mugabe?

Deputy Prime Minister Arthur Mutambara was kicked out as leader of the smaller faction of the Movement for Democratic Change months ago, but new leader Welshman Ncube has been unable to unseat him. Could Mutambara therefore have been right when he told a European Union delegation that he must not be excluded from any negotiations about Zimbabwe because he was the only one who could shut up President Robert Mugabe?
