Walter Magaya trial starts, to continue on 25 April

The trial of Prophetic Healing and Deliverance leader Walter Magaya kicked off today before High Court judge Justice Amy Tsanga.

Magaya is charged with rape, unlawful termination of pregnancy and obstruction of justice but pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The key State witness Petronellah Mandaza had threatened to take prosecutor-general Ray Goba to court for forcing her to testify against Magaya claiming she had made false allegations against him.

According to the Herald, the State will call at least eleven witnesses to testify against Magaya.

The State alleges that Magaya raped the complainant in June 2015 before giving her a pregnancy termination pill.

It further alleges that Magaya deposited US$100 000 into the complainant’s CBZ Bank account number 09124212590012 purportedly to silence her.

The case will continue on April 25.
