Farmer loses case

A South African farmer who was suing his government to compensate him for the farms he lost in Zimbabwe because it had not intervened on his behalf has lost his case in the Supreme Court of Appeal according to the judgment released today. The farmer Crawford von Abo had won his case in a lower court. “When the North Gauteng High Court in Pretoria ordered the South African government to compensate Mr Von Abo for the losses he suffered in Zimbabwe at the hands of that government, it made vital mistakes of law,” the court said.
