The European Union today lifted sanctions on 81 individuals and eight firms leaving 10 individuals including President Robert Mugabe and his wife and two institutions, the Zimbabwe Mining Development Corporation and the Zimbabwe Defence Industries. The Zimbabwe African National Union-Patriotic Front dismissed the move as a non-event. “We are not looking for a partial removal of names from the list. We are looking for the total and unequivocal lifting of sanctions which were not justified in the first place,” party spokesman Rugare Gumbo said.
