Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai has asked the United Nations, the European Union, Italy, Sweden, Switzerland and South Africa not to recognise ambassadors to these countries or organisations because they were appointed by President Robert Mugabe without consulting him, his party said today. Tsvangirai says the country is facing a constitutional crisis because of these unilateral appointments by Mugabe. Mugabe has so far not responded. Former government spokesman, Jonathan Moyo, however, said Tsvangirai was “desperate” and was “just making noise”.
