Zimbabwe’s properties in Cape Town which a German bank and evicted white farmers wanted to attach to pay off part of their debts with the Zimbabwe government have been abandoned and are now occupied by vagrants. Though the properties were meant for the consulate none of them is registered as a property which qualifies for diplomatic immunity.

A South African High Court recently ruled that a German bank and evicted white farmers could auction one of the properties in Cape Town that belonged to the Zimbabwean government. But it could not sell two others because they enjoyed diplomatic immunity. Here is the judgment in full.

It was almost like a chorus. Zimbabwe needs elections. The Zimbabwe National Union-Patriotic Front is delaying the implementation of the Global Political Agreement because it does not want to hold elections because it will lose. There are too many vacancies in Parliament but ZANU-PF is not willing to hold by-elections because it is afraid of losing.
