Zvobgo walked out on Chinamasa

Zimbabwe African National Union-Patriotic Front legislator and chair of Parliamentary Legal Committee Eddison Zvobgo walked out of a marathon debate of the Broadcasting Services Bill and the Political Parties Finance Bill because he was afraid that he might be forced to vote against his own party and his own adverse reports on the two pieces of legislation.

Chinamasa threw out committee’s findings

Zimbabwe African National Union-Patriotic Front parliamentarians including Justice Minister Patrick Chinamasa rejected a report by Parliament’s Settlement Committee which criticised the government’s fast-track land resettlement programme and called on the government to implement the programme in a transparent manner in accordance with the laws of the country.

Chidyausiku steps in

Judge President Godfrey Chidyausiku was sworn in as Zimbabwe’s acting Chief Justice on 13 March 2001 pending the retirement of Chief Justice Anthony Gubbay who had been forced to step down but had reached an amicable agreement with the government.
