President Robert Mugabe has promised civil servants that their salaries will be reviewed upwards in June. Reports said today Mugabe had met representatives of teachers, the armed forces and health professionals for three hours after months of pressing by union leaders who say ministers have failed to deal with their concerns. Finance Minister Tendai Biti insists that Zimbabwe is too broke to meet demands by government workers who want the least paid worker on US$502 per month from the current US$128.
