The number of people that died in Zimbabwe after Cyclone Idai hit the country 10 days ago now stands at 167, according to Local Government Minister July Moyo.
Moyo, however, said the number of people that died could be much higher as a lot of people remain unaccounted for.
“The number of missing people continues to change as there is need determine the people who were in houses swept away by the cyclone. Machinery is required to attend to roads and recover the deceased people’s bodies,” Moyo told the Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation.
He said at least eight people whose bodies were swept away were buried in Mozambique.
The number of bodies swept away has been put as high as 120.
