The consignment to Chipinge and Chimanimani was RUCORS’ second donation to Cyclone Idai victims.
The first- comprising about two tonnes of goods comprising mealie meal, rice, salt, sugar, soap, fresh vegetables, plates, cups, buckets, blankets and used clothes- was handed over to the CPU at Bikita in the presence of Masvingo Provincial Minister of State Ezra Chadzamira on 19 March and was expected to benefit people from Bikita, Gutu and Zaka.
Bishop Mutendi, though not present when the donations were handed over, visited the area to assess the situation especially how church members in Chipinge and Chimanimani, were affected.
He also held church services and prayed for the congregants at Chipinge, Ngangu and Machongwe.
Bishop Mutendi also visited Mashonaland West, the eastern part of the Midlands, Masvingo, Manicaland, Mashonaland East and Mashonaland Central.
During the tour he invited church members and those who survived to come to Mbungo, the church’s administrative headquarters, for Easter because they had a lot to thank God for, for sparing them from Cyclone Idai.
