Zimre Holdings’ property unit has commenced construction of a $13 million shopping complex in Victoria Falls with completion expected next January.
Speaking at the ground breaking ceremony on Friday, Tourism and Hospitality Industry Minister Prisca Mupfumira said the complex will provide a springboard for increased investment into the country’s prime resort town.
“This is a proudly Zimbabwean project that will inspire other Zimbabweans to invest in the country. This is the first among many projects earmarked by Zimre to foster development and will create local employment and promote local investment,” said Mupfumira.
The mall will accommodate banks, restaurants, offices and a car park.
Zimre managing director Edson Muvingi said retail chain store , Pick n Pay had already taken up space as the first tenant.
“We got approvals and we are ready to start work. We will start by removing the Kalahari sands which will take two months before we start the actual construction and the mall will be ready early next year,” said Muvingi.-The Source
