Zimbabwe records no coronavirus death for second day running

Zimbabwe today had no coronavirus death for the second day running with one day to go before the county reviews its strict Level 4 lockdown.

It vaccinated 3 138 people bringing the total since the programme started 10 days ago to 18 843.

There were 31 new cases and 76 recoveries today bringing the number of cases to 36 089 and recoveries to 32 666.

Deaths remained at 1 463 but 135 are hospitalised. Four of them are severe cases and nine are in intensive care.

The number of active cases dropped to 1 960 with Harare going down to 744 and Bulawayo to 98. Active cases in Manicaland went up to 581 while Mashonaland West was static at 218.

The eight-week lockdown is expiring tomorrow and President Emmerson Mnangagwa is expected to announce new measures.

Business is expecting Mnangagwa to relax the restrictions to allow business to get back to normal.
