Mnangagwa relaxes restriction on operations of business, silent on opening of borders

Zimbabwe President Emmerson Mnangagwa today relaxed the strict lockdown restrictions by allowing both formal and informal businesses to open, relaxing the curfew and allowing inter-city travel but was silent on the re-opening of borders.

In an address to the nation this afternoon, Mnangagwa also said schools, universities and colleges must prepare to open but did not give a date.

He relaxed curfew hours from 8pm to 5.30 am to 10pm to 5.30 am.

He also allowed public gatherings which will be limited to 50 people but funerals remain restricted to 30.

Supermarkets can now open up to 7pm.

Industry can also now open but must adhere to strict World Health Organisation guidelines as well and National Covid-19 regulations.

Restaurants and bottle stores can now open but must only sell take-aways.

Bars, beer halls and night clubs remain closed.
